Shipton Bowling Club - Recreation Fields, Main Street, Shipton-by-Beningbrough, York, YO30 1AA
Shipton Bowls Club is situated 4 miles North of the City of York, in the Village of Shipton-by-Beningbrough, and was established on Land owned by the Parish Council. There is plenty of Hotel Accommodation in and around the City making Shipton Bowls Club an ideal place for Club Tours and visitors are always made to feel welcome by an enthusiastic membership. Although only a small organisation, currently approx 40 members, with a humble beginning the Green is large and in excellent condition. This is borne out by its frequent use by the County Ladies for competitions and by the York Amateur Bowling Association for Local Semi-Finals and/or representative games. The facilities provide ample changing and toilets for both sexes and teas or light refreshments can be served in the Pavilion built by members in recent times. Larger visiting parties can easily be accommodated by using the kitchen and dining facilities located in the village Community Centre on site. Parking is not usually a problem in the Community Centre Car Park but Coaches will need prior notice for security reasons. Handicapped visitors are more than welcome but the Club does not have wheelchairs for bowlers although the green, pavilion and changing facilities are accessible. Whenever in the area it is worth a visit and help can be given in association with the County Organisation to provide opponents from Clubs within the area to make your stay easier.
